Relax, have a seat. You have stumbled on the personal Web site of Jason Dean. My world is many things, which shall be revealed on this site.
My world is technology. Computers. Web. Design. The revolution has past, and those that ignore digital hurt their cause. It starts with hardware. Knowing how to diagnose problems and what equipment is necessary is important. The fun begins with understanding multiple operating systems including Windows, Mac, and Linux. Software is important. I possess working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and a multitude of content management systems. Implementation is key. Theory goes only so far before the real world gets in its way. I have consulted on multiple web and computer projects with successful results. I have initiated my own projects, including most recently a web site for the University of Wisconsin journalism program. Currently, there are numerous other projects in the works.
My world is media. Web design is only one part. I am currently working to create a local podcast with other members of the community. I enjoy amateur photography, and carry a camera with me at all times. Recently I’ve started to experiment with digital video, and I enjoy the results. Finally, I like millions of others have my own “blog,” filled with news and opinion.
My world is writing. Blogging is but a small part. I started an online writers magazine when the web was young, which I ran as Editor-in-Chief for about two years. In May I completed my master’s degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin. I currently write for a local content web site, along with The Capital Times newspaper. I am editing my first novel, and have others in the works.
My world is business. Before returning for my master’s, I worked in Internet marketing. I continue that today, as I am in the process of starting my own company. Freelance writing, Web design, video and marketing; this is my business.
My world is politics. Being in the state capital, I am surrounded by politics. I hold a bachelor’s in political science and I’ve volunteered on state and local campaigns. I interned at the United Nations in New York for a summer during my undergraduate. Working with delegates on a daily basis increased my interest in sovereignty and world politics.
Occasionally, my world is relaxation. Apart from what was mentioned, I enjoy playing guitar, reading, and playing games; both video and with friends. I also enjoy fishing, camping and biking. I am learning to draw, and hope to add cartoonist to my list of accomplishments in the near future.
This is my world.
